Gulf Islands National Seashore, Ocean Springs, Mississippi

posted in: Campgrounds 0

Gulf Islands National Seashore celebrates both the form and function of the barrier islands along the Gulf. Unfortunately, because the storm system which is bringing snow to the east went through yesterday and we were hunkered down under pelting rain, ferocious wind and a tornado watch. We didn’t get to see much except the visitors center and the campground, which were both quite nice.

At the visitors center we were greeted by a couple of full-time RVers volunteering who helped us with maps and other information. The visitors center itself was rebuilt after Katrina and has new exhibits and a great film.

The campground was very quiet and had sites in full sun and shade. Ours was shaded and next to the woods. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Nice, hot showers.
