As you come upon the sign for this park, your first instinct is to turn and go behind the wall. You then have some serious work to find a place to turn around because there’s no way to get in from back there. That’s only the first of several strange things about this place. The office is in a beauty salon. More about that later. The location in Socorro is extremely convenient for trips to the Very Large Array about an hour to the west on US 60. The campground is basically a gravel lot with pedestals and a few picnic tables.
Now back to the beauty salon. The bathrooms are stocked with the old equipment from the salon. Mirrors and padded chairs lead the way. They could use an update but are quite serviceable. Water was nice and hot.
